Donation Rules (Ontario Municipal Elections Act)
Only individuals who are normally resident in Ontario may contribute. Corporations, trade unions, and non-residents are not eligible to donate.
Maximum contribution to any one candidate: $1,200 (includes the value of any goods or services).
Maximum total contributions to all candidates running for the same council or school board: $5,000.
Cash contributions are limited to $25. Amounts over $25 must be made by cheque, money order, or another traceable method.
A contribution receipt will be issued for every donation.
